READY TO TILE SHOWER THRESHOLD CURB
Once installed, just add your thin set and decorative tile. Glass shower enclosure mounting hardware must be anchored (screwed) to both the walls and the shower curb in order to safely secure the glass assembly. This is especially true with heavy-glass shower enclosures. Traditional shower curbs, constructed from wood or mortar, and most prefabricated foam curbs, are not designed to receive the required anchoring hardware without causing leaks. A KBRS HardCurb® has a self-sealing anchoring layer that automatically seals around the screws when penetrated, and securely holds the screws in place.
The HardCurb® (PATENTED) is a tileable shower curb that is equipped with a self-sealing anchoring cap used to anchor shower enclosure hardware. The HardCurb® is solidly constructed from non-porous composite materials. The HardCurb® prevents the typical leak and rotting problems associated with wood-built shower curbs. The self-sealing anchoring cap is specifically engineered to permanently hold and seal around the anchoring screws required for shower enclosure hardware.
A SHOWER CURB THAT PREVENTS LEAKS AND TILE FAILURE
One of the most critical components of a tile shower is the curb. If not properly constructed (and most are not), then it is guaranteed that you will have damaging leaks and tile failure. A KBRS HardCurb® is engineered to prevent these failures from occurring.

+ Frequently Asked Questions
WHAT IS THE KBRS HARDCURB® MADE OF?
The core material of a HardCurb® is UL® Certified expanded polystyrene (Type XV-EPS 60) geofoam. The self-sealing anchoring cap is a laminated combination of dense composite and polyurethane. A HardCurb® is encapsulated in ANSI 118.10 compliant waterproofing membrane.
IS THE HARDCURB® EASY TO INSTALL?
Yes, the HardCurb® can be installed easily by following a few simple steps. Dry fit the HardCurb® to ensure proper length (cut-to-fit, if required). Using a 3/4” U-notched trowel, apply an ANSI 118.4 compliant thin-set to substrate. Lay HardCurb® in place and firmly embed it into the thin-set to ensure proper bond beneath. Apply approved ShowerSeal® Polyurethane Sealant (or equal) to all gaps and joints. Apply waterproofing as required.
CAN I CUT THE HARDCURB?
Yes! The KBRS HardCurb® shower curb can be cut-to-fit on site to easily adjust as needed for your shower.
CAN I INSTALL THE HARDCURB® WITH A MUD PAN?
Yes, the HardCurb® can be used in a mud bed installation or with our KBRS ShowerSlope™ shower pan.
DO THE TILE-BASIN® SHOWER BASE PRODUCTS HAVE A HARDCURB® ATTACHED?
Our standard Tile-Basin® products come with a standard curb attached, but you can order a custom Tile-Basin® with a HardCurb® upgrade attachment. You can also attach a hard curb to a linear Tile-Basin® shower base product. View the link below to access our custom library of order forms.

CAN I PURCHASE A CURB WITH A SHOWERSLOPE™?
Absolutely! You can either order a ShowerSlope™ and a curb as two items, you can order a curb on its own, or you can order a curb in a pre-sloped ShowerSlope™ kit. Our tile shower kits include a presloped adjustable shower pan, HardCurb® shower curb, waterproofing products and a drain.

WHAT KIND OF THIN-SET SHOULD I USE?
Any quality "polymer modified" thin-set will do just fine. Do not use a premixed thin-set (i.e.... water already added). A premixed thin-set that comes in a bucket with water already added will not cure properly. Remember: No premix! Always add your own water! Different terms for modified thin-set include: modified thin-set, modified thin set with a latex additive, fortified thin-set, polymer modified thin-set, polymer fortified blended thin-set. The thin-set must meet or exceed ANSI A118.4 and ANSI Al18.11 requirements when mixed with water.
Three of the most recognized brands:
1. Custom Building Products: usually found at The Home Depot. (Product Names: Versa Bond, Fortified, FlexBond Fortified and their elastic membrane is called RedGard)
2. Laticrete: usually found at The Home Depot, Lowe's and other tile suppliers. (Product Names: Laticrete 254 Platinum and their elastic membrane is called Hydro Ban).
3. Mapei: usually found at The Home Depot, Lowe's, Daltile and other tile suppliers (Name of product: Ultra Flex 2 and their elastic membrane is called Aqua Defense)
WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A TILE-BASIN™ AND A SHOWERSLOPE™?
The ShowerSlope™ is identical to the Tile-Basin® with two exceptions. The ShowerSlope™ DOES NOT come factory prepped with an elastomeric waterproofing membrane coating, or with factory installed perimeter components (i.e. flange or curb). This allows the ShowerSlope™ to be "cut-to-fit" in the field. An elastomeric waterproofing membrane must be properly applied to surfaces of the ShowerSlope™ and to the seams where the ShowerSlope™ and the tile backer board meet.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO MANUFACTURE A CUSTOM SHOWER PAN?
Our average lead-time is 7-10 business days (Mon-Fri). This could slightly vary due to certain manufacturing conditions, in which if this becomes an issue you will be contacted and notified by a KBRS, Inc. representative.
DO YOU HAVE RAMP ATTACHMENTS?
Yes! We can custom manufacture a ramp attached to a Tile-Basin®. We can also add a radius on a custom ramp per your specifications, or you can order a shower ramp separate to install with your shower pan. The KBRS ramp can be cut-to-fit on site using the same tools as you would to cut a KBRS shower curb.

HOW CAN I ENSURE THAT THE CURB IS COMPLETELY EMBEDDED IN THE THIN-SET AFTER I SET IT IN PLACE?
Typically, professional installers use boxes of tile or buckets of water to supply a uniform weight to the shower base and curb threshold until the thin-set is cured. Following this procedure will result in a "rock-solid" installation. Also, be sure to securely tighten the shower drain's "clamping ring" to the drain body in the sub-floor as recommended in the installation instructions.
I AM INSTALLING ON A WOOD SUBFLOOR, CAN I APPLY THIN-SET DIRECTLY TO THE SUBFLOOR?
If your sub-floor is structurally sound (no rotting...etc.) and level (very important), then applying thin-set directly to the sub-floor is okay. However, we do not recommend applying thin-set directly to particleboard.
